A British diver, famous for taking part in the heroic ‘Thai Cave Rescue’, has opened the UK’s first ‘cannabis oil hotel.’
Tim Acton, 39, was part of the heroic rescue team which caught the attention of the world when they saved 12 Thai schoolchildren and their football coach who were trapped in a flooded cave. Now, the hostel-owner is looking to save people through another means: CBD.
Tim and his friend, Greg Land, have been running Canna CBD for the past three years, emerging as one of the leading brands in the fast-growing CBD industry. The duo has now turned their hands at revolutionising the British hospitality industry.
The pair’s new venture is the Green Coffee Lab and Leafy Hotel, located in Colchester, Essex. The hotel will sell CBD-infused coffee, tea and cakes, as well as CBD-infused alcohol, such as beer, gin and rum.
CBD will also be infused into the hotel’s cocktails, food, and even shampoo in the rooms!
There are currently eight rooms open to choose from, costing between £80-125 for a night.
Discussing the revolutionary hotel, Tim told The Metro:
“As far as the restaurant and the bar are concerned we offer a range of CBD-infused products.
“Once we are up and running the restaurant will be healthy fast food all infused with CBD.
“Even the shampoo is hemp-based and our light fixings are made out of hemp too.
“We don’t want to limit ourselves to anyone, there are lovely rooms at the end of the day and a lot of people come through Colchester for different reasons.
“We are not a huge hotel, and we don’t want to limit ourselves to any group really.”
“We have been told this is the only CBD hotel in the world and it has been challenging. It is difficult working in this industry in the UK, it is very new. It is fast moving and there are challenges.”
– Tim Acton, co-founder of Leafy Hotel and heroic diver
Tim explained the difficulties in opening the a CBD-themed hotel in the UK:
“We have been told this is the only CBD hotel in the world and it has been challenging.
“It is difficult working in this industry in the UK, it is very new. It is fast moving and there are challenges.
“There are some misconceptions but you can drink a gallon of oil and you won’t get high, it is nothing to do with the illegal side of things.’
“We have had so much interest from the locals and we are hoping to be an education for people too.”
Tim’s CBD journey began when he introduced the cannabis-based medicine to his father:
“One of the original reasons we came up with the shop idea was to educate people.”
Greg, 26, added:
“I think CBD has become more accessible in terms of the stigma that cannabis had.
“People think cannabis is bad, but it is not bad it is just a plant and it is how people use it.
“There is an illegal side of it, but there is an illegal side to everything.’
Green Coffee Lab and Leafy Hotel may be the UK’s, and even the world’s, first CBD hotel, let’s hope it’s not the last!
