London Cannabis Film Festival 2019
On Sunday 28th July 2019 The London Cannabis Film Festival took place at Rich Mix cinema in Hackney, London.
This event put on 5 screenings throughout the day and included a number of talks and panels for guests to watch and interact with.
Entry to the venue was free, with tickets available to purchase screenings ticketed throughout the day – some screenings were made up of a number of shorter films.
Here is what was on at The London Cannabis Film Festival 2019:
The event space was the 4th floor of the Rich Mix – this consisted of the screening room, and through a corridor a mingling room, with a gallery showcasing cannabis art and a number of stalls and tables with campaign groups and canna-inspired businesses there to exhibit themselves to attendees.
Those who had set up stalls at this event included UKCSC, We The Undersigned, Mila Hash Queen, Kushtopia, Myshroom, Hempress Rising and more.
On their website they say that they are: “Showcasing documentaries to inspire, travelogues that stir up the wanderlust, as well as the hottest international releases – The LCFF is a celebration of the plant, its myriad of uses and the people and communities it inspires and nurtures.
#TheLCFF is an essential cultural happening for anyone with an interest in cannabis. Set against a backdrop of art, music, workshops as well as discussions with world leaders in the areas of medicine, business and advocacy.”
One of the focuses later on in the day was a screening called “women in weed” which gave an opportunity for UK female influencers to discuss their experience in the industry. The growth of the cannabis wellness space has seen the inception of many companies and there are also talks and meetups aimed at female cannabis entrepreneurs.
Another panel chat included activist and ISMOKE writer Simpa Carter discussing the change in attitudes around cannabis and culture.
And the winners were…
Best Feature – Breaking Habits
Best Short – Cheer Up Charlie
Best Foreign Film – Grassroots
Best Documentary Story – The Secret Story
Trailblazer – Extinction Rebellion
Overall this was a good event, nice to see something a bit different from the regular field events and meet some new faces who were there on the day. The collection of media was an excellent source of cannabis information for guests in attendance.
