N.J. cannabis Business leaders to Speak homegrow, hemp, CBD in April 13 networking Occasion – NJ.com
For its April 13 Speakers Series and media event, NJ Cannabis Insider has been hosting a talk on homegrow and hemp with industry insiders. The two-hour event will touch on subjects that revolve around the recreational and medical characteristics of letting citizens develop their own cannabis, the way the hemp market is going to grow and the near future of CBD.
Sen. Vin Gopal, D-Monmouth, that last week released a bill to adult-use home cultivation, will be one of the featured speakers.
“We should not be criminalizing developing a plant if Republicans made it lawful,” Gopal said in a panel sponsored by the New Jersey Political Science Association on Friday.
NJ Cannabis Insider’s April Speaker Series presented with Foley Hoag will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Gopal will explore the condition of the bill along with other efforts that he and the Legislature are working on for the cannabis space. Gopal’s bill would allow those that are over 21 to develop six plants and also a maximum of 12 each family. Homegrow has frequently been cited as advantageous to medical patients and those who are unable to afford the cost of recreational cannabis sold through retailers.
The event will also feature a panel to talk about improvements in the hemp and CBD space with Pure Genesis CEO Faye Coleman, HillviewMed CEO Ken VandeVrede along with Foley Hoag cannabis law clinic counselor Mike McQueeny.
McQueeny also serves as adviser for the New Jersey Cannabis Trade Association, a trade association that represents the medical marijuana suppliers within the nation. Outside of their respective company roles, Coleman and VandeVrede are members of the New Jersey CannaBusiness Association’s Hemp Policy Committee.
The committee was created in the wake of the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill when hemp went from being a Schedule 1 drug to being an agricultural product.
