New York last month became the 15th country to legalize recreational adult-use marijuana, setting the stage for a new sector of the economy participated in the valid growing, selling and processing of marijuana.

Coupled with the growth of the state’s existing medical marijuana program and ongoing expansion from the industrial hemp/CBD industry, that gives the opportunity for any variety of new business opportunities.

Though possession of around 3 ounces of marijuana is now legal for individuals 21 and over, many other details of the new law will require time to get underway. The medical marijuana growth should be starting in about half a year, but the legal creation and sales of recreational marijuana may require up to two years to begin.

The country is still setting up an Office of Cannabis Management, which will oversee all aspects of marijuana, hemp, CBD etc.. It will also be responsible for writing the particular rules and regulations for those businesses.
